EARTH-MINED VS. LAB GROWN
Earth-mined and lab grown (also known as man-made) diamonds are almost indistinguishable and are made of pure carbon. The difference lies in the scientific process in which they are created.
Natural diamonds are formed beneath the earth’s crust resulting from extreme pressure over millions of years.
Lab created diamonds start with a small diamond seed placed in a sophisticated pressure chamber containing carbon. By recreating the intense heat and pressure of the earth’s crust, the diamond grows layer by layer. Approximately 1 to 6 weeks later, a diamond is formed. They are then cut and polished the exact same way as mined diamonds and are physically, optically and chemically identical to them as well.
Lab grown diamonds offer an eco-friendly and less expensive alternative to mined diamonds, making these an excellent option for those who are planning their wedding on a budget or for those couples who want a larger, environmentally and socially responsible diamond. Ultimately, the decision to buy a lab grown diamond is a personal one.
