PROCESS FOR CONSIGNING YOUR JEWELRY
Morrison Smith Jewelers will make every attempt to evaluate any jewelry you no longer wear and would like to sell. We do not buy jewelry unless it is at scrap value (exception is engagement rings and diamonds which are handled on a case by case basis) but we do offer consignment. Please bring in any jewelry you'd like to have evaluated. We will let you know upon takein if it is something we can sell in our store. Allow up to 4 weeks for evaluation as an informal appraisal must be done to determine value. If you have appraisals, please bring those with the jewelry. There is no charge to you for this first step.
After we have evaluated it, we will call you with your net upon sale. Your net never changes and if we choose to put the jewelry on sale, it comes off of our net, not yours. If you agree to the net, there is an upfront fee (must be paid in full upon signing of the contract) and is non-refundable, even if your item does NOT sell. This fee is to have the item cleaned, polished, tagged and insured while in our possession. Fees vary from $25 up to $75 plus tax depending on the net price to you.
If the item is in need of repair, it will have to be repaired in the beginning at your expense before it can be placed in the showcase. After the sale, Morrison Smith warranties the item to the new customer who buys it. 45-60 days after the sale, we will issue you a check for the item.We ask that you leave your items for a minimum of 90 days. If the items have not sold within one full year, we reserve the right to return them to you at that time.
